A Collett’s Winter Holiday – In a Nutshell
Snowshoeing, winter walking, downhill skiing holidays & more…
Organised Itineraries, Hosted Ski Days & Self Guiding
In winter, Collett’s is based in Corvara, Badia and Arabba, three charming and sought-after resorts at the heart of the magical Dolomites. With their stunning mountain backdrops, our resorts are superb springboards for anyone wanting to explore the outstanding natural beauty of this winter wonderland with its unrivalled opportunities for winter holidaymakers. Skiers will thrive here because we offer superb access to one of the largest, most modern and most spectacular ski areas in the world. And yet snowshoers and winter walkers can explore an enchanting and tranquil winter paradise away from the ski pistes.
With a Collett’s winter holiday in the Dolomites we offer 7 day stays running from Sunday to Sunday (with some Saturday to Saturday options). We have half board accommodation in delightful catered chalets in Corvara and Badia, including Chalet Angelo, our new piste-side chalet in Corvara. We also offer three exquisite hotels in Corvara (from three to five star) and one in Badia. Finally, we have self catering apartments in Arabba, Corvara and Badia. Travel to the Dolomites as you wish. We offer free airport transfers from Venice and Treviso airports (3hrs). We also offer transfers from Innsbruck (2hrs) at £45 return.
Your time in the resort is as important as your experience in the mountains. Choose from an excellent range of accommodation in three idyllic alpine villages at the heart of the Dolomites.
Once here, do exactly as you please. We offer organised days out from all three of our villages, which you are more than welcome to join. We understand if you prefer to be independent and left to your own devices. We can provide you with what you need to gather many interesting ideas and create a succession of enjoyable winter days out, whatever your interests.
Once in the mountains you will be in awe of your surroundings. Wherever you choose to stay you will soon feel at home. Our courteous and helpful staff will always be on hand to offer help and advice. Our catered chalets in Corvara and Badia are right at the heart of a successful winter holiday, such is the warm ‘home from home’ feel, the unassuming hospitality, absorbing views, delicious food and the good company of friends, family and like-minded guests.
Our guests either come to ski or to do a mix of snowshoeing and winter walking. Some will do all three as and when they choose. Whatever you opt for, you can self guide or join itineraries organised by us daily and free of charge – or do a mix of both.
In Winter 2013/14 we will be offering daily hosted ski itineraries for advanced, intermediate and easy-going groups. There will also be a choice of two daily snowshoe itineraries and also a daily winter walk, which on one day will include some tobogganing and on another will be a cross-country skiing excursion – if there is adequate demand.
We provide the perfect winter holiday for people who want to enjoy the mountains together. Simultaneously, we cater for groups of friends (or couples) who want to share the same holiday but do different things during the day without leaving their comfort zone. If you are not together on certain days, you will be during the late afternoons and evenings. At Collett’s, the evenings are meant to be as pleasurable as the days are memorable.
Snowshoeing and Winter Walking
This area is not the exclusive terrain of skiers. Away from the ski fields, a separate winter paradise unfolds for walkers, snowshoers and cross-country skiers. Delightful trails meander alongside rivers and streams, through woodland and across winter meadows between enchanting Tyrolean hamlets and villages, which huddle around the spires of their picturesque churches.
Higher up, snowshoers experience the exhilaration of virgin snow on a labyrinth of waymarked routes, traversing the hidden snowfields, which undulate between a seemingly unbroken rim of spectacular peaks. Here, you could hear a pin drop, but for the vocal appreciation that persists amongst walkers and is the inevitable result of such an inspirational situation.
Downhill Skiing
The skiing here is outstanding: varied, extensive, spectacular and largely queue-less. At the heart of this area, four beautiful valleys wend their way to their terminus at the foot of Monte Sella, a vast and glorious massif, which towers above the Val Badia and Arabba. It gives its name to the world-renowned Sella Ronda, an awe-inspiring 46km circumnavigation of this immense mountain and one of several breathtaking local ski itineraries which will stay with you forever.
The Superski Dolomiti pass covers the Alta Badia, with it’s World Cup runs, the Marmolada Glacier, Cortina, the Val Gardena and much much more – in fact this ski region claims to be Europe’s largest with 1220kms of piste! But what really sets the Dolomites apart from other ski areas is a lack of queues and the ability to ski for miles and miles and miles on different pistes, village to village, valley to valley.
A Collett’s winter holiday in the Italian Dolomites
Excellent Holiday
Fifth time to Chalet Haus Valentin. Colletts is the only company that provides organised snowshoeing at a location where the skiing is also excellent. The ski hire is now improved with booking skis on line with a promotion code. The hire shop shuttle bus was also very useful covering the shortfall of a minibus at HV. Another excellent Holiday - many thanks to the staff who ...
