A network of ski trails in picturesque woodland locations
Cross country skiing in this area is limited but there are a couple of delightful options in the Val Badia, which expose you to magnificent scenery and woodland tranquility. We generally use the cross-country skiing centre at nearby Armentarola, where a series of well-marked woodland tracks provide circular routes (skating and classic) of varying difficulty and length.
The Centre at Armentarola is a spectacular location dominated by the stunning walls of the Conturines Massif. It is not far from Pedraces and Corvara. Skis and boots can be hired and lessons are available too. There is a charming bar and restaurant with an attractive sun terrace, where you can ‘recharge your batteries’ between the various route itineraries.
Corvara has 17kms of cross country tracks, including a stunning 5km woodland route under the impressive flanks of the Sella. Further afield, there is Cortina, Val Gardena, Pustertal and Dobbiaco, all offering similarly beautiful itineraries, although having your own transport would be recommended if these were of interest.
Organised cross-country skiing with Collett’s
For those who might enjoy the odd day’s cross country skiing, we offer it to guests staying in Corvara and Badia, usually as an alternative to winter walking and if there is adequate interest. We usually head to the centre at Armentarola and spend the day progressing from the more gentle blue routes to the more challenging reds. Equipment can be hired at the centre.
Ultimately, you do exactly as you please, we are available to help, but careful not to interfere. If you prefer to organise your days and cross-country skiing independently, we will leave you to your own devices. Itinerary ideas and information are always at hand at Office Hour and in our chalets.
At your own risk
You join our organised itineraries and make use of our ideas & information at your own risk. It is important that you understand that whilst our own walkers, skiers and snowshoers have substantial local knowledge and are familiar with the routes which our organised walks follow, they are not qualified mountain guides.
Excellent week of snow shoeing
Last week of season, the chalet was immaculately clean, the wholesome food delicious and the staff still buzzing with the fun of the snow and meeting new guests! Brilliant, happy atmosphere on and off the hills created by the dynamic and genuine team who would always go the extra mile without thinking twice. Thank you Colletts, a real pleasure and privilege to have spent …
