Cross Country Skiing

02 March 2016

After some good quality snowfall, the winter season is in full flow with all Cross Country ski centres fully open to the public. Cross Country, to some known as Nordic Skiing, is a great activity which can be combined with your winter holiday here in the Dolomites.

Cross Country Skiing in the Dolomites

Twice a week, Monday and Friday, we offer organised days to the Cross Country centre at Armentarola, which offers 26km of groomed trails from training loops for the beginners to steep blacks for the experienced experts. The trails head through open pastures, wooded pine forests and steep valleys to give a majestic experience in this beautiful location. Equipment can be hired at the centre for around 16 Euros for classic and 20 euros for skating skis, along with a small track fee of 6 euros.

For the more adventurous, a 45 minute bus ride north towards Brunico will take you to the picturesque town of San Vigillio, which also host 24km of groomed trails. You can travel 12km gently uphill through the valley to Pederu where a much needed rifugio stop awaits for a nice lunch and local bier. After lunch the gentle downhill slope back to San Vigillio makes life a little easier.

Whatever you experience, you won’t be disappointed and most guests come on our organised days “Just to give it a try” or if you want a private lesson? All can be arranged through your chalet staff in resort. So sign up and get the lycra out.

Collett’s Mountain Holidays offer Cross Country Skiing during the winter based in Chalet Haus Valentin in Badia and from Chalet Verena in Corvara.
