Frequently Asked Questions

A village-to-village walking holiday is where you walk from one village to the next each day, staying overnight in handpicked hotels. Your luggage is transferred whilst you walk, so it is waiting for you when you arrive at your next hotel. This format allows you to explore a wider area, visit different towns and villages, stay in different hotels, all whilst just carrying a day sack. It creates a sense of adventure which you can enjoy safe in the knowledge that it is a tried and tested route, using reccomended hotels, and help is only ever a phone call away.

Each day you walk a pre-planned route between villages, arriving at a new hotel each afternoon. Your hotel is pre-booked, routes are carefully designed, and your luggage is transported for you, allowing you to walk with just a daypack.

Village-to-village holidays offer more home comforts than hut-to-hut holidays. Instead of staying in mountain rifugios and carrying all your belongings, you stay in comfortable hotels and have your luggage transferred each day, making the experience more relaxed.

All accommodation is in authentic, hand-picked hotels that reflect the character of each village. These are chosen for their atmosphere, location and quality, rather than generic or chain-style accommodation.

The board basis varies from holiday to holiday. Each hotel is either included on a bed and breakfast or half-board basis, depending on the itinerary. Details are clearly shown in the “At a Glance” section on each individual holiday page. Packed lunches are often available to purchase to eat during your walks, too.

No. One of the key benefits of village-to-village walking holidays is that your luggage is transported from one hotel to the next. This means you only need to carry what you need for the day’s walk.

Most of our village-to-village walking holidays are self-guided, giving you the freedom to walk at your own pace and enjoy each day independently. Exceptions to this are the GR11 and Transylvania’s Carpathian Mountains village-to-village walking holidays which are guided.

Yes. we offer a range of village-to-village walking holidays from easy through to challenging. These are noted on the pages of each village-to-village walking holiday. Our Discover the Dolomites and Atlantic Coast of Portugal are most sutable for those with limited experience, but do still require good fitness levels.
