July 2016 Sella Dolomites Hut to Hut
The so-called huts are 3* chalets with great food and each day begin with a chair lift to get right up close and personal with alpine fields of wild flowers and amazing rocks formations. This part of northern Italy was part of Austria before WWl which explains the Italian Tyrol which still looks, feels and sounds more like Austria. La Marmolada glacier formed part of the main front and the 'via ferratas' are the tracks that were made to carry weapons and supplies. Today, fearless hikers use helmets and safety harness to hike on these steep and challenging paths; when push came to shove we opted for the guided wildflower hike ? and it did not disappoint. Refugios are never far away and a hot chocolate and apple strudel were usually involved along the way. All up it was a great adventure and already we're looking at Collett's options for another wonderful holiday next year and a big thank you to the dedicated, friendly and professional support staff we encountered at the base chalet Angelo.
