Location & Views – Towered over by Corvara’s own peak, Sassongher (2625m), La Tambra enjoys a delightful location 5 minutes on foot from the village centre, gondolas and flower meadows. Within minutes you can be on a labyrinth of trails that radiate from the village into flower-rich upland pastures and then higher into the mountains themselves. And if you are taking the local bus to a trailhead, the bus stop is less than 2 minutes’ walk. The views here will overwhelm you, a mix of sheer drama and exquisite alpine charm. The startling rock formations of the Sassongher and the monumental Sella massif tower over one of the most picturesque valleys in the Dolomites. This is a highly recommended and attractive spot for a walking holiday.
The Hotel – Not too big, not too small, La Tambra is a characterful hotel with informal calmness, unassuming hospitality and spellbinding panoramic views from its attractive en suite bedrooms. From the minute you arrive, it’s obviously family-run and welcoming, without compromising on professionalism and expectation. Everyone is courteous and simultaneously easy-going. Little wonder that people come back year after year. It’s now 15 years since its charming renovation. A century ago it was an alpine barn and its traditional origins have been cleverly retained amidst its modern comforts. Spa options include various saunas, whirlpool, Kneipp, massages and yoga.
Buon Appetito! – Italy’s global reputation for outstanding food is in safe hands at La Tambra. Fresh and organic produce are sourced locally to produce authentic Ladin recipes alongside regional and Mediterranean cuisine. As is normal in this part of the world, a fabulous 4 course dinner includes a generous ‘antipasto’ and salad buffet.
Office Hour – this is a popular daily focal point of a Collett’s centre-based holiday and it is held at La Tambra each evening at 6pm, either in our own dedicated space near the bar, or in the hotel’s attractive garden. Join us and other guests for a sociable aperitif and ask us any questions you might have about your Walk Pack or chosen itineraries. Whilst guests staying elsewhere will join us here, it is particularly convenient for people staying at La Tambra itself.
