Explore one magical ski destination after another
on this unique 7 night guided skiing holiday in the Dolomites

Our Ski Safaris are designed to showcase the beauty of this vast winter paradise, combining big ski days at their most stimulating with unique places to stay, where the food is exquisite.

Introduced to these thrilling adventures over 10 years ago by our Arabba-based friend and guide, Mario Delmonego, this is genuine immersion into the splendour of skiing in the Dolomites. Prepare to clock up miles and miles, as you explore the hidden corners and must-do runs of the world’s largest, most modern and prettiest ski network.

Guided by Mario or one of his colleagues, you will ski at least one new region each day, enjoying sociable rifugio lunches, while we transfer your bags to your next overnight accommodation, another warm and hospitable mountain lodge. After a good night’s sleep, fuel up at the breakfast buffet and off you go again onto freshly-bashed pistes amidst sensational landscapes.

The maximum group size will be 10.  If you have a party of 6 or more, why not consider booking a Collett’s Private Ski Safari which can be tailored to your skiing ambitions and other criteria, such as luxury and gourmet rifugios, private transfers, a mix of rifugios and hotels etc.

Return Departure – an early start of 0745 – for flights taking off after 1200

    Arrival & Welcome Briefing

Make your own way to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Here you will join the Collett’s scheduled transfer to Albergo delle Codole in Canale di Agordo which departs at 1400 prompt (2hrs). You should arrive around 1600 and your guide (and host for the week) will meet you at 1700 – giving you time to settle in and freshen up. Soon after, time permitting, any guests hiring skis, boots etc. will be taken to nearby Falcade. Also, lift passes and storage of excess baggage will be dealt with, as necessary. The hotel is renowned for its gastronomy, but only has a small bar area, so you might choose to take a wander into the village before or after dinner. Your guide will give a short welcome briefing before a fabulous 3 course dinner.

    Tre Valli

Today we set off from Falcade into the Tre Valli ski area. From Col Margherita at 2513m, you will see the colossal southern wall of the Marmolada and from Cima Uomo you have spellbinding views of the Pale di San Martino and the Civetta mountains. This fabulous ski área provides 65kms of pistes between 1190m and 2513m, interspersed with cosy mountain huts. The two principal resorts are San Pellegrino and Falcade. Tonight’s accommodation is half-board at Rifugio Chalet Cima Uomo. Charmingly nestled between San Pellegrino and Falcade, make time to relax whilst absorbing exquisite mountain views.

    Luisa Moena & Bellamonte

Today you will be bewitched by the monumental massifs of Latemar, Catinaccio and the Pale di San Martino. You can also challenge yourself on the area’s steepest black slope, the Piavac.  We ski primarily above the treeline between 2340m and 1367m in a beautiful corner of Dolomiti Superski that takes in Moena in the Val di Fassa and Bellamonte in the Val di Fiemme. At the end of the day we head back to the comfort of Rifugio Chalet Cima Uomo for another evening of wonderful cuisine and relaxation.

    Val di Fassa

Today you will ski in the Val di Fassa, a valley of numerous attractive ski resorts that eventually terminates under the startling walls of the Sella and the western flanks of the Marmolada, Queen of the Dolomites at 3313m. From Pozza di Fassa (made famous by Alberto Tomba), all the way to Alba via Campitello and Canazei – and including Ciampac and Buffaure – you will surely be enthralled by today’s off-the-beaten-track treasures. Eventually, we converge on a traditional piste-side mountain rifugio, Baita Cuz, for the fourth night of our Dolomites adventure.

    Sellaronda

Another overdose of breathtaking scenery awaits you today on the world-renowned Sellaronda circuit that comprises the 4 Ladin valleys of Val di Fassa, Val Gardena, Val Badia and Arabba Livinallongo. At 3152m, Monte Sella is one of the great Dolomite peaks, but its altitude says nothing about its size. This is a truly colossal natural plinth that dominates the central region of Dolomiti Superski, flanked by picturesque Tirolean and Italian ski resorts, each one an accomplished destination it its own right. Our guide will also include some of the best off-shoots and there should be opportunities to repeat the runs you particularly cherish.

    Alta Badia

Comprised of 5 picture-postcard resorts – Corvara, Colfosco, San Cassiano, La Villa & Badia – you venture north to the Santa Croce chapel at 2045m under the staggering walls of the Fanes. To the north, the Austrian Alps loom large just 40kms away. The Alta Badia boasts some of the quaintest rifugios, where exceptional food is often prepared in the traditional Ladin way . You can try dishes such as ‘turtres’  (fried pastries filled with spinach), ‘panicia’ (barley soup), ‘bales da ciocie’ (bacon dumplings ) or the classic Tyrolean dessert, Kaiserschmarrn.

    Civetta

Your grand circumnavigation of much of Dolomiti Superski is almost complete! Like Pelmo, Civetta (3220m) is one of the 7 great Dolomite peaks and perhaps the most striking of all, with its 7km wide west-facing wall dominating the pretty resort and lake of Alleghe, a spectacle you can marvel at in the afternoon. It’s a magnificent destination for your final day, providing 80kms of glorious descents, many of which drop into the Val di Zoldo on fabulously quiet runs. Ski hard today, as tonight you are back in the Albergo delle Codole and it’s a good place to be hungry in! Your dinner will be another gastronomic delight and a fitting end to a special winter experience. You should certainly sleep well….zzzz.

Need to Knows

Flight Delays – Unfortunately, we cannot be responsible for repercussions concerning delayed flights or other travel arrangements. If you are delayed, our coach transfer will still depart as scheduled at 1400, as our drivers are subject to time limits. If you miss the coach, the only realistic option is to make your own way to Canale d’Agordo by airport taxi, which will be at your expense.

Luggage – Please note that suitcases are not permitted, only rucksacks or soft shell kit bags. Whilst there is no weight limit, these should be no bigger than 95 litres.

Insurance – All skiers must, by law, have third party liability insurance. Please note that this insurance is not included in your ski pass. Most travel insurance policies include this cover, but it is your responsibility to check that you are adequately covered.

Good Level of Skiing – A Collett’s Ski Safari is for good skiers with positive energy, physical and mental. It is characterised by a healthy degree of thrills on the slopes. Only book this holiday if you are a fit and accomplished skier with an appetite for steep and challenging runs, even if many of the pistes are intermediate. This holiday is not suitable for slow skiers, even if they are technically capable, as the general approach is to get as many runs under the belt as possible by keeping up a certain speed and clocking up the miles between the odd comfort break and a rifugio lunch. It goes without saying, as this is a group holiday, it has a convivial dimension to it that inevitably suits easy-going, sociable people.

Accommodation Amendments & Rifugios – Occasionally, accommodation is subject to change and a local alternative will be provided. We will only contact you in this regard if we deem it necessary. There is a night at each end in the gastronomically-renowned Albergo delle Codole near Falcade. After that you stay in rifugios, mountain lodges that have transformed from basic alpine huts to fabulous accommodation, some very stylish, others more traditional, but all providing fabulous food and a comfortable bedroom. Breakfast and a 3 course dinner are included – and taken at a communal table – whilst you pay for drinks and lunches on the mountain. Some rifugios are piste-side, whilst others might be on a pass or perhaps in the woods near the ski fields, accessed by a quick shuttle.

Your Guide, Skipass & Equipment Hire – Your host will be an engaging and knowledgeable qualified guide, who is English-speaking. Your skipass is included and will be issued on your arrival. Equipment hire is paid for locally by you and arranged on the afternoon of your arrival, or first thing the following morning, if there are travel delays.

Group Sizes – The maximum group size will be 10. If you have a party of 6 or more, consider booking a Collett’s Private Ski Safari which can be tailored to your skiing ambitions and other criteria, such as luxury and gourmet rifugios, private transfers, mix of rifugios and hotels etc.

Odd Numbers & Single Travellers – This is a region of Austrian Double/Twin beds whereby two single duvets are laid on two single beds either in a double bed frame (not separable) or free-standing, so that the beds can be separated. Naturally, where single people sharing are concerned, we endeavour to provide the latter. If you are travelling alone (or in a group with an odd number), you (or someone in your party) will be expected to share a room with someone they are not necessarily travelling with.

What to Pack? We recommend you travel with a larger rucksack and a small ‘day’ rucksack. The larger bag will be transported each day between your overnight accommodation, whilst you will ski with the small rucksack, carrying water, sun cream, phone etc. As a rule, travel as light as possible.

Bus Transfers & Shuttles – Short bus transfers might be used to link you from the bottom of a piste to a nearby lift station that opens up the next ski area. If so, they are included on your skipass. Any other shuttle transport at the start or end of the day is free of charge.

ETIAS – The European Travel Information and Authorisation System is not due to be introduced until mid-2025. Currently there is not an exact date as to when it will come into force. This means you do not need to have a ETIAS for travel to Europe at the moment. For more information read our blog article here
