Haus Valentin (above & far right)
The Bar, Haus Valentin
Our base in Pedraces is Haus Valentin. Perched just above the village in a stunning and tranquil location, its new-look exterior (completed in 2005) disguises the fact that it is a traditional Tyrolean guest house. We run it as a relaxed and homely chalet hotel. The bedrooms are en suite and it has a large dining room and a comfortable and spacious bar, where people congregate before and after dinner in a convivial atmosphere to relax over a drink.
Haus Valentin has a warm, down-to-earth atmosphere, big enough to have your own space, small enough to get to know people easily. From the bar, the view over the village to the towering walls of the Fanes is breathtaking and it will absorb you for hours, especially at sunset when its flame-red walls make an awesome backdrop to the village. French windows open on to the sun terrace from the bar and here walkers and snowshoers gather in the mornings and gaze at the surroundings. As for the skiers, the lifts are not far but it is a tricky walk with skis and boots, so we run a minibus shuttle to and from the pistes in the morning and afternoon.
It is the perfect springboard for a memorable winter holiday and the care and attention to detail of our staff here will ensure your days are plainsailing and trouble-free. Each evening, before and after dinner, their help and advice is at hand and, over a map and a beer, you can chat about walks, snowshoeing, downhill or cross-country skiing options and any other activities that might appeal to you, such as ice skating, tobogganing, ice climbing, ski mountaineering etc. You can also obtain details of the organised itineraries they will be offering the following day.
Haus Valentin is jointly hosted by Collett's and its owners, our great friends, the Saning family - Monica, Cristina and Rainer. Monica and Rainer make a wonderful team in the kitchen and their traditional Tyrolean and Italian cuisine is excellent. Six evenings a week they serve a delicious and substantial three course dinner (with wine included). Breakfast is served daily. Cristina cleans the bedrooms and looks after domestic arrangements. Thursday is our day off and this gives you a chance to eat out in the village in one of several good restaurants.
Chalet Andi
Self Catering Accommodation in Pedraces Val Badia
Chalet Andi
We also have a couple of self catering apartments in Chalet Andi (pictured right). It is about 300 yards from Haus Valentin down an attractive wooded lane, so it is easy to drop in for a drink and a chat with our resort-based staff and other guests. Naturally, people staying at Chalet Andi are welcome to join organised walks, snowshoeing excursions or ski days and this can be arranged simply by dropping in to Haus Valentin. Or they can use Haus Valentin to seek out itinerary ideas and suggestions should they wish to spend their days independently.
The apartments are ideal. They consist of a double bedroom, a bathroom (with shower, washbasin, WC) and a living room, which incorporates the kitchen and dining area. In the living room there is also a double sofa bed. See the bottom of the page for Chalet Tabia, self catering in Arabba.
Accommodation in Arabba
Half-Board in the Auberge, Chalet Heidi ~ Self Catering in Chalet Tabia
In Arabba we have three neighbouring chalets less than 200m from the village centre and about 300m from the two main lift stations. Chalet Heidi is brand new, indeed due for completion in October 2006, so we cannot offer you a photograph (although you can just see the new eaves of the building in the photograph - far right). It promises to be quite special. It will have three en suite bedrooms and a captivating view from its living/dining room up to the colossal rose pink rockfaces of the Sella Massif. larger parties can be accommodated by using en suite accommodation just next door

The Arabba Auberge - right
Opposite Chalet Heidi we have the Arabba Auberge - pictured above, far right. This is a building of considerable size and character with various nooks and crannies on four floors. It sleeps up to 32 people, so we divide it into two, Chalet Robina and Chalet Lauren. The Arabba Auberge was the village's first holiday chalet when, back in the early 1970's, the British pioneered the winter chalet skiing holiday. So it has a slightly dated feel but this adds to its charm and gives it a relaxed and unassuming atmosphere.
Recently, various refurbishments have taken place in the Arabba Auberge so that most of the rooms are now en suite, whilst those without an en suite share a bathroom with one other room. There are two or three living areas, where people can unwind over a drink, play cards (or other games) or just share their day’s experiences.

Chalet Tabia - Self Catering in Arabba
Skiing into Arabba from the direction of Corvara and the Val Badia
These chalets are the perfect launch pad for an invigorating and relaxing downhill skiing holiday in a glorious winter wonderland and, as with Haus Valentin in Pedraces, you will be well looked after by our hosts and other resident staff. Their care and attention to detail will ensure your days are easy and uncomplicated whatever you choose to do. Naturally, at the beginning of your stay, they will take care of your lift pass, ski/boot hire and ski school arrangements as efficiently as possible so that you can get off to a quick start. Throughout your stay, their help and advice is at hand and you can find out all you need to know to put together appropriate itineraries for you and your party. If you are keen to join their organised ski expeditions, they will ensure you know the relevant details.
Meanwhile our hosts, all accomplished cooks and housekeepers, will be busy ensuring you eat well and are comfortable. Breakfast is served daily and six evenings a week they cook a delicious and appetising three course dinner (with wine included), which is enjoyed in a congenial atmosphere around the chalets' dining tables. Thursday is our day off and this gives you a chance to eat out in the village in one of several good restaurants or pizzerias.
Throughout your stay we urge you to treat our chalets as a 'home from home' - if you choose not to go skiing, you are welcome to sleep in and spend the day in the chalet. You won't be in the way. Help yourself to tea or coffee as and when you feel like it - or something stronger from the chalet's casual bar.
Behind the Arabba Auberge, there is Chalet Tabia - pictured above left, where we have three self contained self catering apartments, each occupying one floor of the building. The ground floor sleeps 2/4. The middle floor sleeps 3/5, whilst the top floor sleeps 4/6.
