Organised Winter Walking, Snowshoeing & Skiing ~ at your own risk
We organise winter walks, snowshoeing, downhill and cross-country skiing on a day-to-day (not Thurs. or Sat.) and goodwill basis so your holiday might be enhanced. Some snowshoeing itineraries may involve walking in deep snow on a gradient, but generally they are technically unchallenging and as long as you are reasonably fit, you will enjoy them immensely. Moderate/Easier winter walks are more leisurely but can still take up most of the day. Our organisers have great enthusiasm for the area and are experienced walkers and skiers. They are not qualified ski or mountain guides and you accompany them at your own risk. Similarly, whilst we always endeavour to give appropriate advice to those walking or doing itineraries independently, we cannot take any responsibility for it and you accept it at your own risk. On your arrival you will be asked to sign a disclaimer to this effect, a copy of which we will happily make available to you prior to your booking.
The majority of our organised walks, snowshoeing, skiing etc. do not require transport, although we occasionally use our vehicles (we have three minibuses) or public buses for the short journeys to some of our favourites. Downhill skiers do not need any road transport in Arabba or Corvara, although we run a free daily shuttle service from Haus Valentin to the nearby slopes non-stop between 8.15am and 9.45am and in the afternoon from 3.30pm. This is barely a two minute ride, but it saves you from a walk which is tricky with ski boots and skis. If requested, this shuttle service can also go to La Villa (2km), where you can be dropped off at the foot of the World Cup run right at the heart of the Val Badia ski network. Skiers with their own transport might want to try a day in Cortina (45 mins. drive and on the Superski Dolomiti liftpass), although there is far more skiing in the Val Badia and the Sella Ronda zone. In the main, we will transport cross-country skiers to nearby Armentarola (although it is also possible to get there by local bus). On the rare occasions we use taxi minibuses or public transport, the cost is divided across the party.
Although local public transport is excellent here, people who want to use Haus Valentin as a springboard for a much larger area with complete independence, flexibility and day to day 'drop of the hat' access to places such as Dobbiaco and Cortina, having your own car is recommended.
