Other Winter Activities in the Dolomites
We can help you take part in several other winter activities, whether you seek an adrenalin rush or something more relaxing. For Off-piste Skiing and Winter Mountaineering, see below.
Near Haus Valentin in Pedraces you can while away an afternoon curling at Lake Sompunt. In the evenings it is open for ice skating, which can also be enjoyed at Arabba's outdoor rink and Corvara's new indoor arena. If the thrill of tobogganing is still in the blood, try the 7km piste at San Cassiano or the 10km run from Santa Croce above Pedraces all the way to the village of La Val. At Corvara, you can paraglide in tandem over the winter landscape. And in Arabba, Corvara and Pedraces we have arrangements in place with local guides for anyone interested in ice climbing.
If you would like to book any other activities, please ask a member of staff at Office Hour and we would be happy to help you. If you would like to organise a day, a few days or a weeks activities with a mountain guide then we can also book this in advance of your arrival in the Dolomites.

Off-Piste Skiing
On a Wednesday we offer a professionally guided off piste day out. The guides are our friends, Francesco & Filippo, both English speaking and duly qualified. There are some exhilarating off-piste itineraries in the central Dolomites, characterised by dramatic and awe-inspiring scenery, perhaps the most renowned being the Val Mesdi. Skiers should be able to ski all runs in control (blacks etc.) and usually, before finalising their itinerary, Francesco and Filippo do a short off-piste section to check ability.
Winter Mountaineering
On a Thursday we offer a full days winter mountaineering. This could be an ascent of a summit such as Piz Boe (3152m), which is the Sella’s summit or another of the great Dolomite peaks. Either way the day would include a snowshoe and crampon ascent across remote and secluded terrain to a high profile peak, where the views are spellbinding.
Alternatively you might attempt one of the many winter gullies in the area. These are sensational experiences, taking place under vast flanks of towering rock and spilling you out onto high snowbound plateaus, from where you will either continue your ascent or descend to the valley bottom on a different route. Some winter walking/crampon experience is necessary but advanced winter mountaineering experience is not essential. The feasibility of such days depends on weather conditions and group sizes.
