Explore the diverse and invigorating Spanish Pyrenees

A superb guided walking holiday which explores the dramatic and extensive Ordesa & Monte Perdido National Park in the Spanish Pyrenees. With its kilometre-deep canyons and soaring peaks, it perhaps boasts the most spectacular scenery of all the Pyrenees. A national park since 1918, it is one of Spain’s oldest protected areas. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site for its wealth of flora and fauna, much of which you will marvel at as you venture in and out of ancient beech woods under the looming high cliffs of the Ordesa canyon. This holiday showcases the area in all its glory – and includes the lesser-visited but just as stunning Anisclo Canyon. You will venture into the rugged, high mountain wilderness of both canyons where you will find a stunning landscape dotted with mountain lakes and spectacular views. This really is hiking in the Pyrenees at its most dramatic!

Your base for the week is the 4* Hotel Ordesa in the village of Torla – where excellent facilities include an outdoor pool and peaceful garden, providing well deserved relaxation after a day out on the trails. This holiday is graded moderate, so if you seek something more challenging, please take a look at our Pyrenean Peaks & Passes or Hike the GR11 holidays for inspiration.

    Valle de Otal

    12 km, 400m ascent/descent
Your hike starts by crossing the medieval stone bridge at Bujaruelo. Following the Rio Ara north, we turn into the classic hanging valley of Otal. Our route takes us past a medieval flour mill before following the Rio Bellos along the valley floor. It is common to see griffon vultures circling above and, if lucky, the rare bearded vulture.
