Come back to unique hospitality and real comforts after a day in the mountains

A stylish and heart-warming mix of modern comforts and traditional alpine hospitality

Location & Views – The Hotel Maria is just 300m from the pretty village centre of Sils. It’s a glorious alpine setting, typically Swiss. You can spend hours gazing across extensive flower meadows to the looming Piz Lagrev, Piz Grevasalvas and the Lunghin Pass. Remarkably, somewhere up there, rain water can run off into the Black Sea, the North Sea and the Adriatic.

The Hotel – The Hotel Maria has an impressive exterior, softened by pretty flower boxes. It hides the immense warmth that prevails inside. Its owners, Andreas & Regula, clearly love what they do and their endlessly helpful team is clearly touched by their focus on good hospitality. It is a genuine pleasure to stay here and you will appreciate many carefully thought-out touches. Like a lot of alpine hotels, there is a heart-warming mix of traditional and modern. It’s an attractive combination and you will soon feel at home and healthily indulgent. All the bedrooms have attractive furnishings and offer a good level of comfort and relaxation. Superior bedrooms are available on request.

Guten Appetit! – Andreas has immense pride in the dining room and this has positive repercussions on your stay. It is a delightful and uplifting space. Breakfast is robust, semi-continental and buffet-style. Whether you choose healthy or hearty, you are fuelled up for the day ahead. You can also fill your flasks with complimentary tea or coffee before you set off. A fantastic 4 course dinner with some complimentary wine is a focal point of each day. It is all quite sociable: people with largely common interests, inspired by a day out in the beautiful Engadin mountains, eat at tables in the ‘Collett’s’ dining area. Vibrant chat and laughter often prevail and it is a charming way to end the day.

The Team – Along with the fabulous hotel team, you will surely benefit from the daily support of our Walk Advisors. Each evening they host Office Hour, either in the garden or in the hotel’s lounge. Over maps and a sociable pre-dinner drink you can ask questions about your walks and this is a good way of meeting other guests and perhaps teaming up with them. There is no Office Hour on a Wednesday, as this is our day-off. Also, in the mornings they are always about, should you have any last minute questions.
