An awe-inspiring winter ski holiday

Dolomiti Superski is a UNESCO World Heritage beauty, famed for its startling peaks, long pistes, and breathtaking panoramas. There are over 1200kms of sublime runs for you to ski, all connected by an ultra-impressive lift system that makes queueing rare. Whether you’re an intermediate or advanced skier, you’ll be able to cover amazing distances every day without repeating the same pistes.

A honeypot for experienced skiers

And if you’re seeking out steeper descents, you’re in for a treat. Arabba boasts its little labyrinth of long and steep descents. It is also the gateway to the Dolomite’s highest peak – the Marmolada (3313m) with its exhilarating 12km top-to-bottom descent.

Arabba: a snow-rich haven

At 1602m, Arabba is the highest resort on the Sellaronda and, in pure skiing terms, arguably the best in the Dolomites. Boasting a tantalising network of north-facing slopes, this picturesque and vibrant village is snow-rich until long after Easter.

Dolomiti Superski & Arabba

A landscape of ski slopes during the day

Dolomiti Superski

With 1250kms of pistes, Dolomiti Superski is a vast winter paradise, rich in mindboggling mountain scenery. With the renowned Sellaronda ski circuit at its heart, Dolomiti Superski combines 12 sublime ski valleys, each with their own popular resorts. The network lies in the South Tirol, Veneto and Trentino, giving it a vibrant mix of the Germanic and Latin cultures. Here, skiers are treated to well-groomed runs of all grades and an ultra-modern lift system that makes queueing minimal, indeed rare. Whatever your ability, Dolomiti Superski provides for everyone, from the ambitious skier eager to clock up the miles on steeper descents in each area; to the leisurely cruiser, who blissfully drinks in the staggering landscapes on rambling tree-lined blue runs, never too far from a capuccino or gluhwein.

This is the very best of European skiing. You can ski the Sellaronda clockwise or anti-clockwise from start to finish. Or you can use it like an orbital highway, dropping into outstanding ski areas, where there is so much to explore. Interspersed throughout the Dolomites, charming rifugios with panoramic sun terraces serve fabulous food and drink at fair and affordable prices, so that lunch is an upbeat focal point of each and every day.

Finally, Dolomiti Superski is a technological leader and you will appreciate this as soon as you start using its impressive lift infrastructure. You can also download the app and keep track of family and friends, whilst recording your own distance, speed and choice of runs. Quite simply, there’s a lot of fun to be had skiing in the Dolomites.

arabba-at-night

Arabba

Arabba is the highest resort on the Sellaronda and it offers an intimate and vibrant mountain-village feel. At 1650m, it is nestled under an exciting series of steep north-facing slopes, which makes it one of the best and most snow-sure ski resorts in the Dolomites. Italian in character (as opposed to the more Germanic feel of neighbouring Corvara), the village is towered over by the Sella massif on one side and the range’s highest mountain (the Marmolada 3313m) on the other. Indeed, Arabba is the gateway to skiing from the Marmolada’s summit on a 12km descent that will surely enthral ski adventure seekers.

As for the village, with its alpine chalets and hotels huddled around a picturesque church, it is genuinely enchanting. After 8pm it is quite quiet with only a handful of bars to choose from, but when skiers return from their adventures mid/late afternoon, there is a pleasant apres-ski buzz, either in piste-side bars or at Bar Peter opposite the church.

The village enjoys all the essential amenities that make it an accomplished ski holiday destination. Everything is within easy walking distance of our featured accommodation. The pistes and ski lifts are even nearer, so Collett’s guests in Arabba can genuinely look forward to doorstep skiing. Over the years we have seen many beginners thrive in Arabba, graduating from the village nursery slopes to the gorgeous runs above the village near the Pordoi Pass. That said, this exquisite resort really excels for intermediate and advanced skiers, tempted by the tantalising ski opportunities that await them in a place that connects so efficiently with renowned ski areas such as the Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Val di Fassa and much more.

Your 6 Day Ski Plan

Ski Passes, Ski School and Equipment Hire

Ski Passes

For every skier (except beginners), the full area Dolomiti Superski Liftpass is recommended, a summary of how much this costs can be found here.
Discounts apply for Juniors (born before 01/01/2016) and Senior Citizens (born before 01/01/1959).  On the airport transfer to Arabba, any beginners will be able to get advice on their options from a member of the Collett’s Winter Team.

How to book

We recommend that you pre-book your ski pass directly with Dolomiti Superski so you can benefit from any offers they are promoting – such as a 5% discount if you book early. It’s very easy and simple to collect your ski pass in the resort before grabbing your first lift.

For beginners who may not need to make use of the full Dolomiti Superski pass, it’s also possible to buy local valley passes for Arabba, the Marmolada or the Alta Badia. There are also other ski pass options available for occasional skiers. These are all best bought directly from the ski pass office.

Ski School and Private Lessons

Arabba’s Ski School offers 4 or 5 day group lessons, or you can book private lessons by the hour. Book in advance of your holiday if possible to maximise the chance of being allocated one of the best English speakers. The traditional ski school package is 4 mornings (10.00 to 12.45 Mon-Thur) plus a day excursion (10.00 to 16.00) on Friday. Group tuition starts at about €230 per person. Private tuition costs between €40 – €70 per hour (depending on the time of day and the season). Additional people can be added to a private lesson, usually at an extra €10-€15 per person.

How to Book
Contact Arabba Ski School Tel – +39 0436 79160 / Email – info@scuolasciarabba.com

Ski and Snowboard Hire

We recommend booking your ski hire online in advance of your arrival. Ski hire starts from around €90 for 6 days, depending on the category of skis you choose, whilst boots will cost you about €40 for 6 days. Upgrade options are generally good. Expect to pay around €150 for a good set of intermediate/advanced skis, with boots. For snowboard and boots, you can expect to pay about €135 for 6 days. Helmets are highly recommended for all skiers and compulsory in Italy for all Under14’s (and are free to hire). Adults will pay approx. €35 for 6 days helmet hire.

How to Book
Booking your equipment online in advance of your holiday is now the norm and is generally 10% cheaper.
Visit Arabba Ski School for more details and to pre-book your equipment.
