At Il Rigo
Wine tasting – As a way of further extending a really warm welcome to all our guests at Il Rigo, we invite you to join us on the second evening of your stay (Sunday) at a complimentary wine tasting. Accompanied by bruschetta, cheeses and cold meats, you will have an opportunity to taste world-renowned Tuscan wines, such as Brunello, Nobile di Montepulciano, Orcia Red DOC, Rosso di Montalcino DOC and a Tuscan IGT. Whilst all use a Sangiovese grape as a main base to the wine, all have a very distinct taste.
Cookery classes – can be booked with Luisa if you fancy a day off walking – or it might be the ideal option of spending a Wednesday, your rest day? She requires at least 24 hours notice and she normally starts her class at 10:45am at a price of €70 per person – minimum group size of 4. Wine is available but not included in the price of the class. With Luisa’s guidance you will prepare together a four-course menu, including the preparation of hand made fresh pasta. Recipes change according to the season, but they are always traditional and Tuscan. Aprons are provided, as is water, coffee, an aperitif and a small appetizer, before the group sits at the table and enjoys the fruits of its labour over a four course lunch.
Pasta Demonstration Classes – this is a one hour session costing €35 per person for 8 people minimum. The price includes water, coffee and a light lunch. Wine is available but not included in the price. Luisa demonstrates her prize-winning pasta making skills in the dining room, showing you how to prepare the dough for the egg-pasta and for the ‘pici,’ the local speciality pasta. After that Luisa shows you how to make different shapes and guests are invited to have a go. Recipes are provided and after the class, a light lunch is served with freshly made pasta, mixed salad and a dessert.
