They say time flies when you’re having fun, and it’s certainly true out here in the Dolomites. It’s hard to believe how much we are able to pack into each week!
Here’s a small taster of what we’ve all been up to…
We’ve been out and about researching new walks, exploring this vast and dramatic area even further. We headed over towards Ortisei, Selva, Sassolongo and also tried a couple of new walks around the Passo delle Erbe to the North of Pedraces Badia and Corvara. Nick, Robbie, Ella and Emily explored a new route around the base of Sass de Putia and describe the area as stunning (there’s a surprise!), with spectacular views to the Alps to the North and the rest of the Dolomites to the South.
Sadly the wild flower walks have come to their natural end as the wildflowers reach the end of their season. There are still some beauties to be found but they are harder to access. We therefore had to say a thank you and farewell to our final flower walk organiser, Eddie. We are definitely missing him around the chalets, but hopefully he will return next year!
In other news we have the expansion of Sarah’s painting program. She has mixed things up and gone further afield to places such as the Lagazuoi lift, Portavescovo Ridge, the military hospital at Col de Bos, Capanna Alpina, the Pisciadu waterfall and Santa Croce. To quote Sarah herself she is “enjoying bringing painting to the guests of Collett’s in more locations with more variations.”
Collett’s is not just about walking and Via Ferrata, we’ve had a wide range of other activities going on, including horse riding, archery, fishing, slack lining, high ropes courses, ice skating, paragliding, visits to Otzi the Ice Man in Bolzano, and of course the Marmolada glacier.
Our chalet hosts are still cooking up delicious treats for our guests to savour – Alan, host at Chalet Angelo in Corvara, hosted a BBQ the other night, whilst in Chalet Verena host Ian prepared a huge curry including homemade Naan breads and onion bhajis for the staff meeting this week.
All in all we’ve had another cracking week, and it only seems to be getting better!
