You are invited to beautiful Wensleydale for a walking break in the Yorkshire Dales over Easter. Spend four nights at our luxurious guest house, Eastfield Lodge, which is 300 yards from the traditional market square of Leyburn, the principal town of Wensleydale and gateway to the Dales National Park. Each day after a good breakfast, we will venture out on a beautiful walk. Over the three days we will walk in Wensleydale, Swaledale and Wharfedale. After each walk there is time to relax in the hospitable atmosphere and comfort of Eastfield Lodge, where we have 8 delightful en suite bedrooms, a cosy guest lounge and an attractive dining room.
This year our Eastfield Walking break will be hosted by Henry Collett and Jen Sutton. Henry will take care of things at Eastfield Lodge whilst Jen will be organising the walks. As yet her itinerary has not been finalised but here is an example of what you might expect over the four nights.
Thursday 2nd April
Meet at Eastfield Lodge in the afternoon for tea and cake. Then join us in the evening for a pre-dinner drink and canapés before a two course supper.
Good Friday 3rd April
Pennhill Circuit – 530m of ascent – Distance 11 miles
After a good breakfast, we will fill our flasks with warming drinks to see us through our first walk with stunning views of Wensleydale. A circuit of Pennhill with a taste of three dales, Coverdale, Bishopdale and Wensleydale and visiting the waterfalls at West Burton and Redmire Force.
Evening – Two course supper at Eastfield Lodge with wine included.
Saturday 4th April
Fremington Edge – 500m of ascent – Distance 10 miles
Starting from the village of Reeth, we traverse Fremington Edge which provides us with a view across the landscape of Arkengarthdale before dropping down into the valley then back over Reeth Low Moor into Swaledale. This day usually incorporates a soup and sandwiches pub lunch, for which guests pay individually.
Evening – Henry & Jen will book a local pub / restaurant for guests to enjoy a meal together (pay individually).
Easter Sunday 5th April
Gunnerside Gill and Swinner Gill – 550m of ascent – Distance 11 miles
Contrasting scenery from woodland and limestone scars to a dramatic landscape created by the old lead mining industry.
Evening – Three course supper at Eastfield Lodge with wine included.
Easter Monday 6th April
Depart at your leisure anytime after breakfast.
Or extend your stay by one night for £30 including another walk on Easter Monday!
Prices
£345 per person (based on two people sharing a room)
£495 per person (where single occupancy is required)
Price includes bed, breakfast, informal supper (Friday & Sunday), packed lunches (Friday & Sunday). Guests are required to pay for their dinner on Saturday 4th April and a pub lunch on the same day.
A Special Offer to stay an Extra Night on Easter Monday
If you would prefer to stay with us on the night of Easter Monday instead of making the journey home, we are offering this extra night at just £30 per person. Also, this includes a walk hosted by Jen Sutton on Easter Monday. Simply tell us this is your intention when you book.
