I wasn't clear regarding the last time I could book an Insbruck flight and still qu.aify for a Colletts supported transfer. I was aware fro the brochure it would cost £45. I was delighted to be treated as a "late arrival" with a personal pick up from the colletts rep both on rival and for departure. I really appreciated with "tailored" approach, though I was luck it was a quiet week.I noticed the caterers were able to cope with special requests, which was great service.I ink your company's approach to selecting and looking after your staff is a great model. The staff are engaged, happy and wellinformed. They look after and are interested in everyone. I thought Eddie in particular was first class. It is not easy to manage teams, and he did this very well. Without being in any way " the boss". He has a really nice way with people and was generous with his time, ananda his know- how. The quiz was a really nice touch in "bonding" us all.
Staff are professional, courteous and have very good memories! olletts staff are always, without exception, extraordinarily willing to put themselves out for the benefit of their guests.
We chose Colletts, yet again, partly for the skiing, which is very special in the Dolomites and also because we knew that we could depend on the staff, the family at Haus Valentin and our fellow guests to create a very relaxed, happy environment in which to share experiences.
This was a repeat booking after many trips with Colletts. We did very much appreciate the transfer of accommodation from Valentin to Angelo, as it was a great chalet and Corvara makes a much better ski centre, and was deemed better by our walker too.
Best Chalet Holiday for ages ( tho we are usually self caterers with a large family)...
Don't think we saw the on line handbook, but UK staff dealt with everything fine on the telephone, also reserved accommodation for 24h while we sorted flights, which was very helpful. Food was outstanding. We liked the lack of uniforms, and the way that some staff were able to sit & eat with us each evening. No fire or focal sitting area to accommodate everyone, although the bar seemed to be the major gathering point! One comment about the wine, which was a bit bland & the same every night – a pity, since the Alto Adige produces some great wines. I realise price is a big factor, and introducing "premium wines" to buy is against the spirit of a shared holiday, but maybe there could be some variation. How about a wine tasting instead of the cocktail night !! Saw your advert in the Big Issue Manchester, thought you must either be excellent or dreadful !!
Been to Dolomites before & wanted to stay in Corvara.
Steve and Becks are great cooks/hosts. This could just turm into a list of memorable meals, but there was innovation in the menu (the Thai noodles and Fennel risotto stood out) and some great classics (such as the sticky toffee pudding).
Becks shows her mastery of baking at Angelo with her daily cakes. We have borrowed her recipe, but can't get it too work as well as she does. This isn't really an office hour point, but having the quiz early in the week did a lot to break down the barriers between the three tables at Angelo.
Eddie and Ben won particular plaudits for their ability to persuade guests that they could cope with slopes that were more difficult than those they had tackled previously. Katie is a natural ball of energy and Shell an all round top lass. The team was very good and extremely helpful when Helen twisted her knee. Having an ice pack in the freezer onsite was most appreciated; it saved me from fetching snow off the piste…
We had been to Corvara walking (twice) and skiing (twice). The Colletts set up is very good; the staff manage to be both very professional and very relaxed at the same time, which creates an environment that the guests can relax into.
I thought everything was perfect. The breakfast is plentiful and substantial, the packed lunches are good and always on time. Dinner was even better that we remember during our first visit. The Hosts never took us on any walks were they were unsure if it was safe. If in doubt, they always found alternative routes. We have already booked our Autumn holiday with you and will book a Winter holiday again, either next year, or the year after that.
The Collett's Hosts: Will, Claire, Harriet, Matt, Cam, Remy at Haus Valentin, and our walking guides from Corvara - Emily, Caroline & Chris were all superb. Emily in particular was amazing once day when I was suffering from very cold hands and she gave me some excellent tips on how to warm up!
And the Quiz Night was such a highlight - "lights, Cam, action" - inspired!
The accommodation was excellent, very comfortable. All the meals were superb!! Office hour was really enjoyable as well as informative. The staff were great!! We have been with Collett's before and have had a really great time. Lovely staff & chalets, creating a relaxing happy atmosphere.
Always wanted to experience s skiing holiday in the Dolomites and was very aware of what Collett's and was attracted by what you offer for a winter holiday experience that isn't just about skiing. My favorite ski holiday and destination out of the many i have been too. You chalet staff were brilliant and their first class knowledge on the whole area together with their top notch guiding really added to the experience.
Thanks to everyone at Colletts for a brilliant holiday, including Bruno the driver who did the transfers. We have nothing but praise for the chalet hosts at Verena. All were enthusiastic, intelligent, competent, a mine of information and good fun. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a fun-packed week trying all the activities on offer and always felt confident about the organisation and safety aspects.
Accomodation was excellent and well situated for lifts, town and good links to other areas. We looked forward to mealtimes - food was delicious and varied.
Also enjoyed the social nature of the holiday. Everyone seemed very positive about their experience of Colletts
We had an excellent holiday and will book again for next year. The staff at Chalet Verena were excellent, they were really positive people passionate about what they do and couldn't have been more helpful – a rarity in this age of poor service.
