Pre-booking ski lessons might not be essential during quieter periods, but we recommend it if you know exactly what you want prior to your holiday.
We also recommend it for the busier periods of Christmas, New Year, half term and around Easter time.
If you would like advice, please contact us by email at admin@colletts.co.uk or by telephone on 01763 289660. We will endeavour to pre-book ski lessons for you as requested, confirming to you in writing when they are successfully booked. On occasions, they might not be available and alternative arrangements will need to be made. We will contact you if this is the case. In Corvara, unfortunately, we cannot pre-book ski school, however, as the ski school is quite large it is usually possible to arrange any lessons you might require upon arrival.
Payment for ski lessons can be made locally to Collett's on the eve of your departure.
Ski Tuition Overview
In Arabba, Corvara & Pedraces there is the option of private or group instruction. Most instructors speak English.
Arabba & Corvara have quite large ski schools and tend to be able to cater pretty well to most tuition requirements. The ski school in Pedraces is slightly smaller and it helps if you can be flexible in your approach when making lesson bookings.
Private Instruction
Private instruction is taken in 1 hour lessons or multiples thereof and costs approximately €40-€45 per hour for one person. Additional people can be added to the group for €10 per hour per person. A private instructor is ideal for brushing up on technique for individuals or small groups or for intensive one-to-one tuition.
Arabba – private lessons can be taken between 9am through until 4pm, although it is often easiest to get bookings first thing in the morning (i.e 9 – 10am) and after 1pm in the afternoon.
Corvara & Pedraces – more or less as above but often the best slot is at 8.30am when it is quiet.
Group lessons at ski school for adults and children
Group lessons are perhaps more relaxed (and cheaper) than private tuition. You will be amongst a group of up to 10 people of similar ability. Group lessons are ideal for beginners, as good camaraderie and mutual encouragement prevails. As you improve, progression into more advanced groups might occur. Lessons are available for beginners and intermediates and even advanced groups as well. All lessons begin on a Monday.
Children's lessons
Children's group lessons in all three villages can be taken for 3, 4 or 5 days. Lessons start on Monday. On the first three days lessons run from 10am - 12.45pm (until 1pm in Arabba). In Corvara & Pedraces, there is a full day’s ski tour from 10am – 4pm on Thursday with another full day on Friday with a race in the afternoon. In Arabba the set-up is similar but the race is on Thursday and the full day ski tour on Friday. Prices are approximately €120 for 3 days and €170 for 5 days.
Adult's lessons
In Pedraces & Corvara group lessons run from Monday - Friday between 10am - 12.45pm with a full day ski tour on Friday. These are generally suitable for beginner and intermediate skiers. In Arabba, beginner’s lessons run from Monday – Thursday between 11am – 1pm with a full day’s ski tour on Friday (10am – 4pm.) For non beginners lessons only run from Monday to Thursday. For all three villages prices are approximately €110 for 3 days, €120 for 4 days and €160 for 5 days. You can either subscribe to ski school for three, four or five days in Pedraces and Arabba. Ski school in Corvara is for 5 days only.
Snowboard Tuition
This is generally available on a private lesson basis only at the same rates as mentioned above for private instruction. On occasion there may be enough people to form a group and this would reduce the cost of tuition.

This is not a personal taxi service and waiting can be unavoidable.
Please do not book a transfer unless you are relaxed about the possibility of waiting.
We can arrange car hire or taxi transport for you if you would prefer to eliminate the possibility of waiting.
Transfer Times – We will contact you 10 days before your holiday with the times of your transfers. These are determined by the flight times and party sizes of everyone we collect on that day. With a coach (often two) and three minibuses, we try to keep waiting to a minimum. The system generally works well – especially if, where possible, people land in Venice or Treviso late morning or later – but not after 5pm please. Usually our first batch of pick-ups are at about lunch time (occasionally earlier) and our second batch are mid or later afternoon. Journey times are as follows; Arabba 2hrs 40mins - Corvara 3hrs - Pedraces 3hrs
Be in Venice or Treviso by 5pm - We cannot offer transfers to people arriving after 5pm, as we like to get everyone to resort in time for dinner and, if possible, This also allows us to have the ski/boot hire and skipass arrangements of most (if not all) of our guests in place before dinner. If you arrive by train at Venice Mestre please make your way to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Buses leave Venice Mestre Station for the airport every 30 minutes and the short journey takes 20 minutes.
Day of Departure – Expect an early start – we will try to leave after breakfast whenever possible but it cannot be guaranteed. Again, departure times are dictated by the flight times of all our transferees.
Summary of how it Works
- You book your flight – we are happy to help and advise if required – see information on flight services below.
- Outbound Flight – make sure you land before 5.00pm.
- Homebound Flight – make sure you take off after 10am – later if at all possible.
- 10 days before your holiday we will contact you with your transfer times.
- It is not a taxi service and waiting can be unavoidable.

We have introduced this service for people who like using Bristol and Liverpool airports. The flight times are good and Innsbruck is not far from our resorts in the Dolomites.
We charge £36 per person for a single or return and we will collect a minimum of 2 people.
Transfer Times - We will contact you 10 days before your holiday with the times of your transfers. As it happens, both the Bristol and Liverpool flights are scheduled to land mid morning, so waiting should be kept to a minimum. Journey times are as follows; Pedraces 2hrs 15mins - Corvara 2hrs 15mins - Arabba 2hrs 30mins
Day of Departure- 5am departure from resort.
Possibility of Waiting – This is not a personal taxi service and waiting can be unavoidable. For example, if one flight is delayed, waiting becomes unavoidable for those who arrived on the other flight. Please do not book a transfer unless you are relaxed about the possibility of waiting. We can arrange car hire or taxi transport for you if you would prefer to eliminate the possibility of waiting.

On a Wednesday we offer a professionally guided off piste day out. The guides are our friends, Francesco & Filippo, both English speaking and duly qualified. There are some exhilarating off-piste itineraries in the central Dolomites, characterised by dramatic and awe-inspiring scenery, perhaps the most renowned being the Val Mesdi. Skiers should be able to ski all runs in control (blacks etc.) and usually, before finalising their itinerary, Francesco and Filippo do a short off-piste section to check ability.
Bookings consisting of the correct party size take priority. Smaller parties (or individuals) are catered for on a 'first come first served' basis on the assumption that other small party bookings will enable us to arrive at the appropriate party size. If there are not enough people to make up a full party then we will contact those guests concerned to discuss possible alternatives. If the itinerary does not take place, monies will be refunded.
Winter Mountaineering
On a Thursday we offer a full days winter mountaineering. This could be an ascent of a summit such as Piz Boe (3152m), which is the Sella’s summit or another of the great Dolomite peaks. Either way the day would include a snowshoe and crampon ascent across remote and secluded terrain to a high profile peak, where the views are spellbinding.
Alternatively you might attempt one of the many winter gullies in the area. These are sensational experiences, taking place under vast flanks of towering rock and spilling you out onto high snowbound plateaus, from where you will either continue your ascent or descend to the valley bottom on a different route. Some winter walking/crampon experience is necessary but advanced winter mountaineering experience is not essential. The feasibility of such days depends on weather conditions and group sizes.
