Walking Holidays in Italy

First world war walks, glacier treks, summit ascents
and other alpine activities

there’s more to our walking holidays in the dolomites if you fancy it

Over and above our organised and self guided walking in Italy’s sublime Dolomites, we also offer our guests the opportunity to join specialist walks and mountain excursions, which are supplied at a supplement by local third parties.

Collett’s can also help you participate in a range of alpine activities, which might take your fancy - from horseriding and mountain biking, to whitewater rafting and paragliding. See below for more details.

A World War I Walk
€15 per person – Every Wednesday

The Dolomites was home to some of the most remarkable mountain warfare during the Great War and each Wednesday throughout July and August, you can join a fascinating and spectacular war walk with Isabelle Johnson, a local war historian. The walk starts near the Tre Sassi Fort, explores trenches around the foot of Sass de Stria, ventures into the Goiginger War Tunnel before summiting at a point with perhaps the best 360° panorama in the area before returning to the fort, where you can tour the WWI museum if you wish. These walks need to be pre-booked. Click here for more details and our Factsheet.

Guided Trek on the Marmolada Glacier
£55 per person – Every Tuesday

The Marmolada is the highest mountain in the Dolomites at 3343m. People walking in the Dolomites are absorbed by its brilliant white glacier, which dominates many a panorama. Every Tuesday we offer you the chance to traverse the glacier with its crevasses and blue snow. On this trek to the Marmolada’s second summit, Punta Rocca, you will see the remarkable positions taken up by alpine soldiers during World War I. These treks need to be pre-booked. Click here for more details.
