New for Summer 2011 in the Italian dolomites

There is no doubt the Dolomites is a mecca for road cyclists. Some of the most celebrated stages of the Giro d'Italia take place in these stunning mountains with their gruelling passes in such close proximity to each other.

In recent years, the Maratona dles Dolomites has become a truly international event, attracting almost 10,000 cyclists from all corners of the globe in Summer 2010 alone. Sundays in the Dolomites are characterised by local cycling clubs taking to the roads - splashes of bright lycra against dramatic natural backdrops.

For the experienced road cyclist, Collett's has teamed up with a local guiding organisation in order to offer 4 dedicated road cycling weeks during our summer season, each including 5 professionally guided and carefully selected days out, which incorporate many of the area's renowned passes. Routes are generally 60 - 90 kms with a height gain of 1500 - 2500m. For a trouble-free week's cycling, we provide a support vehicle for mechanical back up.

We are offering 4 cycling 'packages,' each one operating from Saturday to Saturday with a rest day on Wednesdays. Naturally, if you wish, you can extend your stay with us at either end of your 7 day cycling package. Also, there is no reason why you should not travel with people, who do not cycle but might enjoy a Collett's holiday on two feet instead of two wheels.

Collett's will transport bikes to and from Venice or Treviso at a charge of £25 return. Bikes can be hired locally if required. Models available locally include Pinarello, Scott, Felt and De Rosa. As for price, simply choose your favoured Collett's accommodation and add £245.
