Our walking holidays in the Dolomites are enhanced by the presence of our own walkers, flower enthusiasts and artists. They offer the following optional organised walks 6 days a week and free of charge. These walks are tried and tested gems, which you would not find if you travelled here independently. Off the beaten track, they are rich in flora, fauna and breathtaking mountain scenery. Day to day you simply drop into Office Hour, chat with our walkers over a pre-dinner drink and choose the walk that takes your fancy. These are the options:
‘Easy’ Walk – idyllic lowland flower pastures, woodland paths, riverside trails and sleepy hamlets. Duration: 3 to 5 hours. Height gain: 100 – 300m
Moderate Walk – remote upland flower pastures, higher woodland tracks, the lower paths of the rocky massifs above the tree-line. Occasionally a cable car to one of the easier high level routes. Duration: 6 to 7 hours. Height gain: 300 – 800m
Harder High Level Walk – venture into awe-inspiring scenery on challenging high trails into the dramatic massifs, which are interspersed with remote and welcoming rifugios. Duration: 6 to 8 hours. Height gain: 500m – 1000m
Flower Walk – join our wildflower enthusiasts in profuse and vivid pastures and on carefully selected routes, where rare species flourish (June & July only). Duration: 4 to 6 hours. Height gain: 100m – 400m
Watercolour Strolls – wander to an idyllic nearby location armed with watercolours. Occasionally we might paint from near the top station of a cable car. Enjoy the informal tuition of our artist whatever your standard. Duration: 5 to 6 hours. Height gain: less than 150m.
General Arrangements for our Organised Walks You sign up to your chosen walk the evening before at Office Hour, where you will be told where and when to meet. We generally set out shortly after breakfast. At Office Hour, you can order a packed lunch which is ready for 8.30am the following day and then eaten at some splendid vantage point during the walk. The walks take place in a relaxed and easy-going atmosphere. You join our organised walks at your own risk. Whilst our own walkers have substantial local knowledge and are familiar with their proposed walks, they are not qualified mountain guides.
We also offer organised walking holidays in the Picos de Europa and the Pyrenees.
