Tom Collett Welcomes You

to Collett’s Mountain Holidays – a genuine holiday specialist

We are a small, independent and ABTA bonded holiday specialist offering summer and winter holidays in Europe’s most majestic mountains. These holidays come with an ever-present human touch, which aims to make a Collett’s holiday a complete pleasure, from your initial enquiry right through to the end of an unforgettable stay.

Our summer walking holidays in the Austrian Alps, the Italian Dolomites, the Picos de Europa and the Pyrenees are unique for their flexibility. You can arrive and depart on the days of your choice, staying with us for as long as you wish. You can travel to us as you please. Day to day you can self guide or join (free of charge) breathtaking mountain walks – there are daily options for high level walkers, intermediate walkers and, depending on your destination, flower enthusiasts and casual artists. Many guests do a mix of self guiding and group walking. You might choose to visit a place of interest or try an alpine activity – then again, you might simply choose to relax in the natural splendour of our carefully-selected mountain villages, each one a superb launchpad for the mountains that surround them, each one as relaxing as it is enchanting. With Collett’s, you can choose to stay in a hotel, a chalet hotel or an apartment, opting for half board, B&B or self catering accommodation.

Our winter holidays in the Italian Dolomites will captivate skiers, snowshoers and winter walkers. We are at the heart of Italy’s largest, prettiest and most modern ski network, whilst for snowshoeing and winter walking, a real winter wonderland unfolds away from the ski pistes. Again, our accommodation options are varied, perhaps the main attraction being the warm and hospitable atmosphere of our chalets in Corvara, Badia & Arabba.

We also have some specialist holiday packages, which might take your fancy: in Spring and Autumn, we offer fixed weeks of walking in Andalucia when the sub-tropical climate of mountainous southern Spain is ideal for walkers. From late June to late September, you can do self guided walking itineraries from hut to hut in the Dolomites, whilst our amazing winter ski safaris offer a guided form of hut to hut skiing, exposing you to the hidden jewels of Dolomiti Superski. Finally, in Northern Spain, we have two magnificent 7 day walking holidays; firstly, a stunning coastal section of the Camino de Santiago taking in some charming hotels along the way. Secondly, each September, you can join us for a week of sensational high level walking on the celebrated GR11 in the Pyrenees.

Our outstanding reputation has its foundations in our love and extensive knowledge of our destinations. This has been nurtured in many different ways, often by the special friendships and mutual respect we share with local people. We also pride ourselves on our hospitality; it is unassuming, warm and un-interfering – yet ever-present and attentive to detail. In the mountains, our painstakingly-recruited hosts set us apart from the rest. They don’t wear uniforms or sell excursions. In their friendly way, they are simply on hand to pass on their knowledge, provide outstanding food and ensure you get the best from your time in the mountains, whatever your interests or ambitions.

Meanwhile, at our office in the market town of Saffron Walden, another small team of people dedicates itself to the success of your holiday. Many of us here have lived in our destinations and we can therefore help you make the best choices on every aspect of your stay. We make the booking process easy and pleasurable so that you feel in safe hands and uplifted by your conversations with us, whether they take place over the telephone or via email.

The most common request from the guests who stay with us year after year is to keep it small and personal. Their wish is our command. We hope to see you in the mountains soon.
